The Tanko Series is a five-book fictionalised story that follows the life of Tanko as he grows, experiences the complexities of Nigerian society and encounters the people and circumstances that shape his journey.
The series traces Tanko’s life through different stages and settings, exploring ambition, identity, relationships, family, work, politics, society and the choices that define a man’s life.
Each book presents a different chapter in Tanko’s journey, while together the five books form a broader story about one man’s experiences and the Nigeria in which he lives.
Book One — Early Life
How Nigeria Happened to Tanko: Early Life introduces Tanko’s childhood and formative years, exploring the experiences that begin to shape his character, ambitions and understanding of the world around him.
Book Two — Lagos Hustle
How Nigeria Happened to Tanko: Lagos Hustle continues Tanko’s journey as he leaves behind his early years in Kano and encounters the opportunities, pressures, relationships and challenges of life in Lagos.
